Once upon a time there was a little girl. The story told me that she fell down a well. I believed this story for a long fucking time. Then one day I cracked. I guess I just washed one too many dirty plates. I looked inside the sink and saw a river dried up and a sky full of blood. And just like that I knew everything; absolutely nothing at all. That was the day I met the little girl. She said hey with a blank face. I looked eagerly but said nothing. She assumed I wanted nothing to do with her. I made up a story in my mind; I told myself she needed saving. But I knew, only she could save anything. I knew my place was keeping her alive long enough. I was born to avert attention, the most intoxicating magician to have ever lived long enough to see his own spells take form. I was told to be a reminder. I told myself she loved me. She did!
